Currency of the world - Scotland. The Scotland's new polymer £20 banknotes 2020. Video
On March 5, 2020, new £20 polymer banknotes is released into circulation in Scotland.
Scottish notes are produced by three different banks: Bank of Scotland, Royal Bank of Scotland and Clydesdale
Bank. The notes are generally accepted in the rest of the UK as well.
The Royal Bank of Scotland's a new polymer £20 note showing the tea room entrepreneur Catherine Cranston in
place of Lord Ilay and on the reverse of the £20 note is Red Squirrels.
On the Bank of Scotland's new £20 notes bears the image of Walter Scott on the obverse and a vignette of the
Forth Bridge on the reverse on the first note. On the second note also bears the image of Walter Scott on the
obverse and a vignette of the Queensferry Crossing on the reverse.
Clydesdale Bank's £20 note is continued - World Heritage Series. On the front side - Portrait of Robert the
Bruce together with the years of his birth and death. On the back side - Vignette of St Kilda, Islanders
weaving and the wording ‘St Kilda Scottish World Heritage Site inscribed 1986 & 2005’.
All existing paper Bank of Scotland £20 notes will now be gradually withdrawn, but any in circulation will
continue to be accepted at shops, banks and cash payment machines.
