In this video, I have discussed the oxidation of ethanol to acetaldehyde in the presence of dichromate as oxidation. This video will be very useful for beginners to improve their understanding. Additionally, I have discussed this reaction with a drawing which is very important to visualize the overall process as well as purification and collection of acetaldehyde. Furthermore, the uniqueness of the setup and low boiling point of acetaldehyde helps to avoid the over oxidation of acetaldehyde to the corresponding carboxylic acid (acetic acid).
