Getting Your PhD Online: Does It Make Sense To Do An Online PhD In Business? (Online PhD Programs) Video
Sometimes you hear about online PhD programs, and you are likely thinking about pursuing one of these degrees.
I would suggest that you refrain from pursuing an online PhD degree, unless it comes from a reputable university. If you are buying a piece of paper, especially do not do that.
It is common to do a PhD, but then work remotely from time to time. This is the PhD life, and many people commute across the country.
There are very few really good programs that do an online PhD. Why?
You gain a lot from being close to other PhD students. This is called the cohort effort.
PhD programs want to see that you are willing to take the PhD program seriously, and moving is a way to show that you are serious.
You work very closely with Professors, and Professors want to get to know you to vet whether you are going to make it.
An online PhD prevents you from using all of the resources at a regular university.
I would suggest that you continue to pursue a PhD but seek out other options rather than pursuing a strictly online PhD, unless you know for sure that this is the program for you.
