Amchur Powder Recipe | How to make Raw Mango Powder | Easy Homemade Amchoor Powder Video
Amchur is used for its tartness and tanginess in many indian cuisine. It's basically a powder of dried raw mangoes, it tends to have an earthy component in addition to the sour notes. A tiny quantity of this homemade powder lasts long as it is quite intense.
Ingredients to make amchur /Raw mango powder:-
1 kg Hard Raw Green Mangoes
Salt
Water
Method to make amchoor/Raw Mango Powder:-
1. Wash the Mangoes properly
2. Now using potato peeler or knife, peel the outer green skin of the mangoes. Discard the peels.
3. Dip the peeled Mangoes in salted water.
4. Now you can either use the same peeler or knife to cut thin strips of the raw mango. Discard the seed/stone.
5. Spread a cotton cloth or muslin cloth and spread the thin mango slices on the cloth( place one or two,layers of newspaper to soak the excess water fast.
6. Sun Dry the raw mango slices for 3-4 days. Their should be no moisture left in the slices.
7. To check see if they break with a snap making a crackle noise.
8. Once done grind the dried slices into your grinder.
9. Store In an airtight container
10. To preserve for long make small small pouches and use one at a time.
A kilo of raw mangoes which yields about 200-250g of amchoor powder.
