In this video, I have explained the DDQ (2,3-Dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone) mediated oxidation reaction. In fact, DDQ is an electron-deficient molecule due to the presence of an electron-withdrawing group (EWG) like two carbonyl (C=O), two chlorine (Cl) and two cyano (CN). Additionally, after the achievement of two electrons, the molecule itself acquires aromatic stabilization which is the main driving force for the reaction.
