We applied another coat of structo-lite basecoat, then applied a Lime finish over this fireplace.

The same process can be done over any chimney or fireplace with any cement board such as Wonder, Durock, or Hardi board on any other cementitious boards sold.
Then you would mesh your joints, apply plaster over this mesh tape, then mist the cement boards and apply a structo-lite base coat if you’re going thick. Say a quarter inch to two inches.
Or a lime plaster basecoat if you need only an eighth of an inch.
Then when that basecoat is set, mist the basecoat with water and apply a lime finish.
Applying Lime, Plaster goes back to the beginning of time.
Why is it called Veneer lime plastering? It’s an old-fashioned term/name that is often confusing?
Even some of us plasterers are confused by this terminology.
Perhaps It should be called Lime plastering finishes? Removing the name “veneer?”
“How many coats? That is the applicator or plasterer’s choice.”
