Since we are also interested in great food - actually we are more in love with it - we decided to check the cookery classes in Belfast, Northern Ireland, offered by the Belfast Cookery School, and believe it or not, we did learn a new dish and even ate what we have managed to cook and bake - we were so proud of ourselves!
Belfast Cookery School is not just directed by some of the most professional chefs in Belfast, but it is also a highly equipped place that could host up to 16 students during the same class; every single one with his/her own partition, ingredients, and equipment - it was actually one of the best things in the place, to feel like you are standing in your own kitchen but receiving some help from a professional chef in the place.
Okay, what we did enjoy and like about the place is that it is not about taking a whole course - although this is possible - but it could be only about taking one class related to the dish you want to learn to prepare; in our case we made chicken, baked bread, and made some kind of sauce that is all about vegetables, and to be honest, it was really delicious - apart from failing to flip things easily the way the chef did! lol
As my wife said, we are definitely coming back and this goes back for two different reasons; first of all, it was good to learn something new in a fun way - since the chef was really helpful and had a very good sense of humor (you have already seen that through the video) - and because we realized that there are different classes you could book, each one of them will give you the chance to learn something different - you could check and book through their online website and be ready because you will keep loading more classes until your page explodes :-)
Okay, from the options that are available regarding the classes, you could book one that will teach you to cook Indian food, choose one that will make you a chef in Asian food, you could also choose the class that will teach you how to make your own bread at home, book the class that will teach you to do something sweet, choose to cook the traditional fish and chips, go to the Mexican world; we will never be able to list them all here, but we promise you that the long list we have been through is overstuffed with different kinds of classes that will definitely give you the chance to choose one and go back home with a new skill as well as an experience which you are not going to forget.
For those who already know how to cook, Belfast Cookery School is considered the place where they will receive some professional tips from professional chefs, just the way we did - especially my wife - and at the same time it gave us one recipe which we have never prepared at home, so we went back ready to cook something new for the kids. For those who are learning to cook for the first time, don't worry, we have noticed that there are special classes at the place that are for beginners - those who might know nothing about cooking.
There are different chefs in the place who have their long experience; every single one of them will be responsible for a specific class according to the thing he has been focusing his attention on more and has taken certificates in; but they are all impressive!
This was a great experience for us and one of the things we recommend people of Belfast, Northern Ireland, to do or at least those who are into the world of cooking and appreciate great food. For those tourists visiting Belfast, we don't want to include this as one of the things to do in Belfast because you might have no time and should also book in advance, but if you have the time then why not go back to your homeland with a new recipe that you have learned in Ireland, even if it might not be even Irish? Great idea, yeah?
