PhD Rejection: Should You Be Concerned With Business PhD Rejection Results? Video

I would highly recommend that you disregard all of the rejections that you receive during your journey to get your PhD, and your journey to do research. One thing that you will begin to understand is that rejection is part of the academic career, and the sooner you realize that rejection is ok and normal in the career, the better you can move on.

What does PhD rejection tell you? Not much when you are looking at small numbers. It tells you that there are likely only a few people that are better than you in the sample of PhD applicants.

Getting into a PhD program is a sorting process that is highly nuanced and sensitive. All it takes is 1-3 other better candidates and you will not be accepted.

What should you do if you get a PhD rejection? I would move on, and keep either applying or find another program that would better suit who you are as a person. There are many PhDs and doctorates in Business around the world. I am sure that there is one that will fit you.

Think about your realistic expectations. If you are very far off from the cut-off for a PhD, I would consider a different career.

If are reasonably close to the PhD entrance, start building your portfolio and application for next year. In one year you can look terrible, but if you work on your application, you can look much better as a PhD candidate.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.

https://r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform

A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.

The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
