Renault Kwid Electric : Might Be Launch In India Soon Video
Renault is working hard to get the all-electric Kwid EV to India. The car is already on sale in China and the version for India will likely be no different in specification. Expect the Kwid EV for India to feature a 26kWh battery pack that will drive a near-45ps electric motor. What is likely to be altered on the India version is ground clearance. A higher ride height will minimize the chance of damage to the battery pack positioned in the belly of the car. In look and features, the Kwid EV will not be too different to the standard petrol-powered Kwid.
The Renault Kwid EV will start off with a localization level of around 75 percent. And, once on sale, Renault will try and localise it even further, assembling the battery and manufacturing the e-motor here. Cell manufacture is also something that Renault says it wants to do here, eventually. That, however, is not a step the company will take immediately, as costs are prohibitively high and it will also need to involve a partner. The Kwid EV is currently expected to have a useable range of over 250km, and Renault could also launch a version with a slightly larger battery offering more range, depending on the demand it sees.
Kwid EV prices are expected to start at around Rs 7 lakh, which could make it one of the most affordable EVs in the country.
