1. How to make Chana Dal Daliya /चना दाल दलिया
Ingredients:- soaked Chana Dal 1 Cup, wheat Daliya 3/4 cup, Masoor Dal 1.5 Tbsp, split mung Dal 1.5 Tbsp, arhar Dal 1.5 Tbsp, rice 1.5 Tbsp, 1 onion, 2 tomatoes, some fresh corn, some peas, 1 Carrot, salt to taste, turmeric, one tsp oil, one pinch hing, cumin powder, spice mix, chilli powder, coriander powder, water 2.5 cups
Recipe :- soak Chana Dal for min 3-4 hours to overnight. We need 1 cup soaked Chana Dal for this recipe. Wash rest of the dals with rice. In a pressure cooker heat oil add hing, add soaked Chana Dal roast for few minutes. Add wheat Daliya to the pressure cooker. Once nicely roasted add all the vegetables one by one. Stir and mix everything add washed dal and rice mixture. Add all the spices and mix well. Add 2.5 cups of water and bring everything to a boil. Once starts to boil put on the lid and cook for 3 whistles. Once the pressure is out serve warm for dinner. This recipe serve 2-3 people.
2. How to make Chana Dal Paratha/ चना दाल पराठा
Ingredients:- 1/2 Cup soaked Chana Dal, 1 tsp oil, 80g paneer, cumin seeds, 1 onion, salt to taste, chilli powder, Chaat Masala, coriander powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric, dough for making Paratha.
Recipe :- add the soaked dal to pressure cooker and cook for 2 whistles. Once cool strain the dal and coarsely grind the dal. In a pan heat oil add cumin seeds. Once the seeds starts to crackle add chopped onion. Once onions are slightly brown add Chana Dal. Add grated panner to the pan and all the spices mix well. Your mixture for filling is ready, let it Cool completely. Take small part of the dough make a round ball. Flatten it and place the stuffing at the centre. Close from all sides and make a ball again..using a rolling pin roll the ball in circular motion. Cook the paratha from both sides until you start to see brown spots. Your Chana Dal Paratha Is Ready. This recipe serve 3-4 people.
3. Chana Dal tikki/ Cutlets / चना दाल टिक्की
Ingredients:- same stuffing that you used for the Paratha, some oil
Recipe :- make round ball from the stuffing flatten them with hands, grease the tava or pan with some oil and cook the tikki from both sides.
4. Chana Dal halwa recipe / चना दाल हलवा
Ingredients:- coarsely grinded Chana Dal 1/2 Cup, 3-4 Tbsp soaked whole mung Dal,1.5 Cups Of milk, 1 Tbsp brown sugar, 1 Tsp desi ghee
Recipe :- In a pan or kadai heat milk when it starts to boil add Chana Dal and mung Dal. Cook on low to medium heat until all the milk is reduced continue stirring. Using back of a spoon press the dals to make them soft . Add ghee and stir properly. Add brown sugar and mix well. Switch off the flames and serve warm. ( this recipe serves two people).
5. Chana Dal omelet/ चना दाल आमलेट
Ingredients:- 2 Tbsp Chana Dal flour, 1 tsp kasuri Methi, 2 eggs, some Capsicum, salt to taste, chilli flakes, some onion, tomato
Recipe :- In a bowl add flour mix with water to make a semi thick batter, add salt and chilli flakes. Add kasuri Methi. On a hot tava or pan spread the mixture once cooked form one side flip and spread the beated eggs on top. Add Capsicum, tomato and onion. Cover and cook for few minutes. Serve warm for breakfast. This recipe serves only one person.
