Should You Call A Professor On The Phone For PhD In Accounting / Finance / Strategy / Management Video
Should you call a professor for graduate school admission? I would generally say ‘no’ that is not a good idea. It is not common to get phone calls, and would annoy most professors. Rather, I would start out the relationship rather slowly with an appreciation for their work. A simple email about how you appreciate their most recent article would be sufficient. You should detail what you liked about the article.
I would also detail that you are curious about their research and if they have other things that they would recommend for you to read.
This is a simple and effective way to understand what they professor is about, and whether they are a good fit for you as a supervisor.
When you apply to the PhD program, the professor will definitely recognize you as a person who is genuinely interested in their research.
Also note that this strategy will take 6 months to a year to develop a relationship with the professor.
